What it is
Crystal Lake is a Peacock and A24 series from showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, who also worked on It: Welcome to Derry. It goes back before the 1980 movie and centers on Pam Voorhees, played by Linda Cardellini, the camp cook whose grief over her drowned son turns into something much scarier. Callum Vinson plays young Jason. The story opens in 1972 at Camp Crystal Lake, per Variety, and it leans more psychological thriller than pure slasher, with plenty of gore for the people who came for that.
