Real talk: Dec 15 is the date that matters for most people. Miss Jan 15 and you'll need a qualifying life event (moving, losing coverage, a new baby) to get in. Some states run their own marketplaces with different deadlines, so check yours. Medicaid and CHIP take applications all year.
